Growing up surrounded by the arts—whether it was theater, music, visual arts, or puppetry—Casey found solace and purpose in creative expression. “I wake up in the morning and I just have to do it. It’s just part of me,” Casey shares. This intrinsic need to create has driven Casey throughout his life, leading him to explore various forms of art, from theater to visual arts to performance.
Lately, Casey’s work delves into themes of grief, loss, and recovery. Through his music, he seeks to navigate the complex emotions that accompany these experiences, offering solace and healing to himself and others. His commitment to authenticity and vulnerability resonates deeply with audiences, forging connections that transcend mere entertainment.
In Albuquerque, Casey finds inspiration in the majestic Sandia Mountains that loom over the cityscape. For Casey, live performance is a vital aspect of his artistry. He explains, “I work a lot with theatre and music because I love the connection that you have in the moment with the audience.”
As a songwriter and composer, Casey’s primary project is his quartet, METAMORFOS. In this group, he writes all original material and fronts the band with accordion, guitar, charango, and vocals. Casey also records solo material and performs solo at various venues around Albuquerque.
Beyond METAMORFOS, Casey has composed music for numerous theater, dance, and circus performances, as well as films and video games. His versatility extends to playing in several Albuquerque-based bands, including BARACUTANGA, CONCEPTO TAMBOR, RADIO FREE ABQ, ANYTHING FOR SELENAS, and THE DAVID GARCIA BAND. He also contributes to world music groups like THE REELERS and QAPAC, showcasing his wide-ranging musical skills.

Casey’s impact on Albuquerque’s art scene is significant. He served as the Music Director for The Show, Albuquerque’s premier improv comedy troupe, from 2010 to 2022. During this time, he collaborated with notable figures such as Bob Odenkirk on several live comedy shows. Speaking about his community, Casey expresses pride in the local art scene: “I feel like it’s a very vibrant art scene that we have here in Albuquerque, and I’m super proud and honored to be a part of it.”
Looking to the future, Casey encourages aspiring artists to create fearlessly. “Do what you wanna do. If you have a vision for it, make it happen,” he advises. For Casey, art is a universal expression of the human experience, inviting everyone to participate and create authentically.
