Spotlight: Exhibit/208

Founded in 1999 by local artists Kim Arthun, Russell Hamilton, and Dwayne Maxwell, Exhibit/208 is a multi-use space at Broadway and Gold next to Thirsty Eye Brewing Company. Emphasizing local talent, the main gallery typically showcases the work of a singular artist, while the back gallery features a rotating collection. Exhibit/208 is currently open Fridays and Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. or by appointment. Until June 14, catch the show “Of a Feather,” featuring oil paintings by Albuquerque artist Claudia Baragiola. If you’ve been to the Albuquerque Botanic Garden in the last twenty years, you’ve probably seen her Mediterranean Conservatory mural, depicting a bounty of food and flowers laid out on a table overlooking a Tuscan landscape.

Spotlight: ABQ ArtWalk

You might have heard of the monthly art crawls around the city, and perhaps you’ve even attended one, but did you know Albuquerque Artwalk is actually a full-blown, independent organization made up of local artists?
Emphasizing community, Albuquerque Artwalk partners with The DowntownABQ MainStreet Initiative, local businesses, and other entities to create lively, engaging, inspiring events concentrated in the downtown area that typically occur on the first Friday of every month. During the summer months, the art walks become even more fun with the help of warm weather—sample bites and sips, wander from gallery to gallery, peruse artisan market goods, and watch live paintings while learning more about the creatives who call Albuquerque home. Don’t miss the free mural tours!
The June Artwalk will occur on Friday, June 7, from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m.
