Starting on August 5, registration opens for a variety of classes offered at the Albuquerque Museum for this fall. Focused mainly around the age groups of 3 to 6, 6 to 9, 9 to 12, and 11 to 14, classes for this coming season include “Portraits, Places and Costumes,” “Nature, Art and the Places We Love,” and “A Ticket Back in Time,” which looks to the history of the New Mexico State Fair and encourages students aged 9 through 12 to create vintage-inspired art and build their own miniature state fair attractions. This season’s classes also feature Route 66-themed classes in celebration of the centennial, such as “Road Trips, Rides and Neon!” In this class, which is for kids aged 6 through 9, students will learn about Route 66 history and neon signs, then build their own mini highway with landmarks. Classes start at $70. The ongoing, online program Teen Corner is free. In August, the Albuquerque Museum will also offer one class for anyone aged 18 and older, titled “Coiled Creations for Adults,” which will focus on basket-weaving and vessel-making. For all class details and registration, contact the Albuquerque Museum or visit cabq.gov.
